L to R: Gina Beavers, Stacy Fisher, Carolyn Salas, Francis Holstrom, Saira McLaren

We are a group of artists in New York City (see the blog roll) that gets together every four to six weeks to discuss an art reading (either a book, magazine or essay) we have chosen. We are going to be writing some little blurbs or full length reflections as we read and/or post-discussion.

Deciding what we will read is a rigorous, collaborative, alchemical process consisting of…sorting by price (20ish bucks or less!) No, but seriously, affordable is key, and other than that we don’t put any stipulations on what we will read. A fast read, an Artist’s biography, or a dense theoretical treatise, we are not exclusive and we like to challenge ourselves. All of the books are available for purchase at ARTBOOK @ MoMA PS1 or on Amazon.

We also plan to check out some lectures and shows and will occasionally post information about shows we or our friends are in, or shows we just happen to be excited about. So, yeah, get your read on!

Congratulations on this timely and exquisite confluence!

  2. You should check out Paul Madonna’s work and his new art book. I think you might like it.
Also – he’s giving a talk at the NY Public Library on Thursday, Sept 15, at 6:30pm.
